NCBDOC History

The New Calvary Baptist Church was founded in November 1921 by Pastor James Johnson along with Deacons David Morton, Parker Jones, Robert Dean, Harry Walker and other members all totaling about 60 persons. The church started in a store front on Belmont Avenue in the Silver Lake section of Belleville, New Jersey. Afterwards the church moved to Glenfield School on Maple Avenue in Montclair, New Jersey before finally moving to 72 Maple Avenue, Montclair, New Jersey.
